Graduate: Admitted graduate students are offered a funding package that provides for five years of continuous funding contingent on satisfactory progress. The first year is full fellowship from a variety of funding sources including the College of LSA and Rackham Graduate School and includes tuition and stipend for the academic year and health and dental insurance for 12 months. Second and third years are typically funded by Graduate Student Instructorships for fall and winter terms with health and dental insurance for 12 months. Fourth year and beyond students often secure prestigious external or departmental fellowships for research, field work and dissertation writing. The Museum of Anthropology also offers some Graduate Student Research Assistant positions each term upon application to the Director of the Museum of Anthropology.
Biological anthropology laboratories, Mischa Titiev Library, Linguistic anthropology laboratory, computer facilities available. The Museum of Anthropological Archaeology has collections on the archaeology of the Great Lakes Region and materials from Japan, China, Tibet, the Philippines and Latin America. Other areas include the archaeology of North America and collections of Archaeobiology (plants and animals). There are representative collections on the anthropology of Africa, Oceania, Europe and the Near East. The Museum of Art holds high-quality collections from New Guinea and West Africa.
