General Description / Special Programs
The department offers an integrative, four-field approach to anthropology. At the BA and MA levels, students must demonstrate mastery of all four subfields. At the Ph.D. level, students are encouraged to specialize in one or two subfields, while maintaining competency in all four. For PhD students, publication, pedagogy, and professionalization are emphasized. Graduate programs are designed to provide students with the professional skills required to obtain academic or non-academic employment. Original research and opportunities are stressed at all levels
