Dartmouth's Anthropology faculty ask wide-ranging questions about the origins, trajectories, and current dynamics of human societies. These and other interests frame our faculty's scholarship and the opportunities we offer students through teaching, and collaborative and independent yet mentored student research.
The Department of Anthropology and the Program in Linguistics offer a joint foreign study program (FSP) at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. It is the only off campus program in the South Pacific. Themed around an exploration of "Colonialism and its Legacies," the program offers students intensive introductions to anthropology of the region, and to Maori studies, the Maori being the indigenous people of New Zealand.
